a haiku for every guy i’ve ever slept with.

1.

four years in my head:

‘i’m not good enough for you’

kinda sticks with me.

2.

on an old couch, you

made me forget about him

and i was thankful.

3.

you were a freegan,

which grossed me out then, but not

enough to go home.

4.

eight hundred miles,

free nights and weekend minutes.

just wasn’t enough.

5.

your brother’s new bed

was the perfect place to fuck

in our opinion.

6.

drunken, sloppy sex.

convenient, but terrible.

our coworkers knew.

7.

you were small, but kind.

and you were in a rap crew –

of course I faked it.

8.

mentor, then lover.

you lived across the alley

from the restaurant.

9.

i ran away fast.

you were planning a tattoo

of jimmy buffett.

10.

we went to bars where

everybody knows your name.

stop drunk calling me.

11.

in your new kitchen,

you showed me your new anvil

and we drank whiskey.

12.

we were playing house.

you got sick, i took care of you.

i loved you quickly.

13.

you seem to like me,

and i want to be with you

in the same city.
